Ensure Smooth Transition for BNB Beacon Chain Sunset

The BNB Beacon Chain will soon be decommissioned. Moving forward, BNB will operate exclusively on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC). This means you need to migrate your assets from the BNB Beacon Chain (BEP-2 and BEP-8) to the BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20).

Important Dates

Late June 2024  - Final Sunset (Disable cross-chain swap between BNB beacon chain and BSC) 

Note: The exact Date in June has not been mentioned, hence it is advisable to complete migration before June

July 2024 - Post sunset only token recovery option will be available for non-migrated assets. It will be a longer process that can take up to 7 days.

Steps for Migration

For BEP-2/BEP-8 tokens with BSC cross-chain compatibility

1. Check if your BEP-2/BEP-8 token has cross chain compatibility with BSC by checking with HERE (BEP2) or HERE (BEP-8)

1. If your token has a BSC contract Address shown in the below explorer link, then a simple cross-chain swap is required.

For eg. https://explorer.bnbchain.org/asset/BTCB-1DE -> will be capable of a cross chain swap

https://explorer.bnbchain.org/asset/GTEX-71B -> Not capable of a cross chain swap

2. BNB beacon native token is automatically capable of a cross chain swap cross-chain  
   

3. 
   2.  Make a simple cross chain swap from the BEP-2/8 asset to the BSC chain asset

        1.  Download the BNB Chain Wallet. (Other options include using the Binance 

                             Exchange/ Trust Wallet) ->  Chrome Extension

        2.  Create your wallet and transfer the assets to BNB Chain wallet

             (Note: If you are transferring BNB beacon chain tokens from Liminal, you will 

                             need to whitelist the BNB Chain Wallet address from the Policies section of 

                             the Wallets tab by clicking on Add Policy )

        3.  Switch the network to BNB Beacon Chain Network in BNB Chain Wallet

4. Make a send transaction for the asset and select BNB Smart Chain Network

5. Switch the address to BNB Smart Chain Network and check if the prior 

    balance matches the current balance

6. As a prerequisite for the final transfer step, ensure that you have created a BSC wallet in the Vaults application.

7. Get the tokens back into Liminal Vaults as required by 

    making another send transaction from BNB Chain Wallet to the required 

    BSC Wallet Address

Congratulations! The migration is complete

For BEP-2/BEP-8 tokens missing BSC cross-chain compatibility

1. Check if the token issuer has created a migration guide such as DUSK

2. If not, then we must notify the token issuer to provide the migration steps

Migration via Trust Wallet 

You can also use the Trust Wallet instead of the BNB Chain Wallet.
